Don Hatfield

Don was born April 30th, 1934 in Galena, Kansas.  He served in the Navy for a short time.  He and Kathryn were married for 56 years and raised 2  children and 7 Grands.  Don joined EAA Chapter 52 in Sacramento in 1987 and had been an active member for 25-years.  During that time he worked at AeroJet in Sacramento developing rocketry systems for the "Space-Race" and the "Race-to-the-Moon".  He also enjoyed flying his white and blue Mooney every chance that he had.  Don was very instrumental in the hands-on building of our hanger facility at the Yolo County Airport and was very involved in the pouring our ramp and the hanger foundation.  Don Hatfield was active with Chapter 52 until his passing, and

The Chapter will be sure that he will always be remembered by commissioning a plaque to be placed in his honor at the EAA Memorial Wall,  AirVenture site, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a place to remember those who have "Gone West".
