Chapter 52

Chapter 52 Sacramento, CA

Gone West Iris Taggart

Celebration of Life

Afternoon ladies and gents:

Just a short reminder that next Sunday the 26th of February, we will be holding a Celebration of Life for Iris Taggart.  The service  is set for 1pm to 4pm. Hangar E-3, east end of the airport.

Her daughter Diane and  sons, Greg and Steven invite you to attend this memorial service for a grand lady of the skies.

Many of you have known Iris and met her over the years and know how strong her heart was into aviation even thou not a pilot.  She mentored many of the Collings Foundation's crew members by hosting their annual tour stop in Sacramento.  She was to many of us, Mom, and was a very driving force with the P-38 Fighter Association in Sacramento as well as several of the Tuskegee Airmen clubs.

Iris assisted every year with Mustang Days/Mustangs and More from 2009- thru its last year in 2014. She was a very enthusiastic volunteer and would help out where ever she could and did.

Recently Iris was part  of our monthly breakfast group and would meet at the Black Oak here in Vacaville for great conversation and friendship.

The Taggart family invites you out to the Nut Tree Airport at Hangar  E-3, Duncan Miller's old stomping ground.  Jennifer, Duncan's daughter has been kind enough to loan us the use of the hangar. Jim Edwards will relocate the 2 Boeing PT-17 Stearman's that are hangared there so we can set up tables and chairs for all of you who will be in attendance.  Brant Seghetti and Russ Fisher of the Legends of Flight have made available tables and chairs for the service,Thanks guys.

At approximately 1:45pm, Members of the Bamboo Squadron, (Kirk Heiser, Kurt Howerton and Byron Fox) along with Julie Clark perform over the ceremeony a missing lady formation flyover for Iris.

We welcome flyins and drive ins and there will be plenty of parking space for cars and planes for the Memorial Service.

I know Iris has reserved blue skies and sunny weather for us.
